Presidential Lecture Series conversation to focus on climate, energy

Climate scientist Steven E. Koonin will join President Mitch Daniels at 6:30 p.m. ET Tuesday (Oct. 19) in Stewart Center’s Fowler Hall for a conversation on the current state of climate science. The event is free and open to the public and also will be available via livestream. A book signing will be held at 5:45 p.m. in Room 206. The first 25 attendees at the signing will receive a free copy of Koonin's book, "Unsettled."

Seeds planted by civil rights trailblazers Winifred and Frieda Parker still growing today, tomorrow

During the early stages of the American civil rights movement and well before the landmark Brown v. Board of Education decision, sisters Winifred and Frieda Parker were leading the effort to integrate student housing on Purdue’s campus and across Indiana. On Oct. 3, the Parker sisters were honored for their courageous leadership with the dedication of two residence halls in their names on Purdue’s West Lafayette campus. Video

Campus flu shot events for students, employees to begin this week

The first three campus flu shot events will be held 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday (Oct. 19-21) in the Córdova Recreational Sports Center’s Feature Gym. Appointments are required for the events, which are open to employees and students. Additional events will be held in October and November, and other designated flu shot locations are also available.

To Krista Hixson-Titlow, associate director of capital projects for University Residences, service is not simply the act of volunteering. It is a value that has been instilled in her since childhood and one she upholds today by her work locally and by engaging those around her to serve. Hixson-Titlow recently received the 2021 Community Spirit Award from CSSAC and MaPSAC.
