Protect Purdue efforts proving effective a month into semester

A month into the 2021-22 school year, Purdue’s Protect Purdue efforts continue to be successful in helping keep the campus vibrant, healthy and safe during the COVID-19 pandemic. The campus vaccination rate has climbed to 85%, and COVID-19 positivity rates remain low. Meanwhile, Purdue has been as open, densely populated and operational as any campus even close to its size among U.S. universities.

Taking lessons from a sea slug, study points to better hardware for artificial intelligence

For artificial intelligence to get any smarter, it needs first to be as intelligent as one of the simplest creatures in the animal kingdom: the sea slug. A new study has found that a material can mimic the sea slug’s most essential intelligence features. The discovery is a step toward building hardware that could help make AI more efficient and reliable for technology ranging from self-driving cars and surgical robots to social media algorithms.

Purdue football returning home for Cannon Game against Illinois

The Purdue football team is back at home inside Ross-Ade Stadium at 3:30 p.m. Saturday (Sept. 25), as head coach Jeff Brohm's squad will face off against the Illinois Fighting Illini.
