Due today: Employee feedback sought on benefits enrollment, wellness offerings

Human Resources-Benefits is seeking employee input and feedback about the recent benefits open enrollment as well as overall health and wellness offerings at the University. Employees on the West Lafayette, Fort Wayne and Northwest campuses who are benefits-eligible are encouraged to participate in the brief survey regarding both of these topics. Today (Dec. 4) is the last day to take part.

Preeti Sivasankar

Winter and COVID-19 bring new challenges to preserving vocal health this time of year

As a child, Preeti Sivasankar witnessed the impact of communication disorders firsthand. Her mom was a teacher who suffered from voice fatigue. Her father had a slight stutter and received treatment from a speech therapist. It was those experiences that led Sivasankar to a career as a speech-language pathologist, where she explores how humans use – and more often overuse – the larynx and researches voice disorders, vocal production, hypersensitive airway and the aging voice.

Purdue adding to space legacy with its first Space Force officer

Ashwin Sivakumar is graduating from Purdue in December with goals beyond finding a job. In fact, the Air Force ROTC member has his sights set on the stars. Sivakumar will be Purdue’s first ROTC cadet to become a U.S. Department of Defense Space Force officer. He’s one of four ROTC cadets expected to graduate from Purdue this academic year and become Space Force officers.

Purdue Convocations pivots to new forms of live performance

Due to the cancellation of university-sponsored on-campus events under the guidelines of Protect Purdue, the Purdue Convocations team has had to adapt to new forms of live performance, illuminating discourse and learning experiences. One such performance is Manual Cinema’s “Christmas Carol,” a world-premiere online event coming Dec. 4-5 and Dec. 11-13.
