When it comes to stopping the spread of COVID-19, those who are infected are critical sources of information. That’s where contact tracing comes into play: the process of identifying and, when necessary, contacting individuals who have been in high-risk close contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19. Dr. Esteban Ramirez, chief medical officer for the Protect Purdue Health Center, says contact tracing will be a critical tool to curb the spread of COVID-19 as students return to campus this fall. The staff at MMDC have done an outstanding job under very unusual circumstances over the past five months. Even with most of the campus closed, the team has been able to deliver daily in support of research and daily operations. They’ve also partnered with Procurement Services to pick up, pack, deliver and store critical COVID-19 protection supplies, and assisted Physical Facilities in managing and storing furniture as we de-densify buildings and classrooms. Your efforts have not gone unnoticed. A heartfelt thank you! -- Mark Schock (Materials Management Distribution)
