Purdue President Emeritus Steven Beering remembered

It is with great sadness that Purdue University announces the passing of Dr. Steven C. Beering, whose presidency at Purdue University spanned 18 years. He was 87 years old.

Boiler 'Maker' team begins producing medical supplies

The Purdue community has such a reputation for being makers that the word is literally a part of the team name. Now a group at the university has organized to produce much-needed medical supplies for Indiana hospitals. And being Purdue engineers and technologists, they couldn't get involved without finding a few ways to improve the products, too.

E. coli risk in hydroponic, aquaponic systems

Aquaponic and hydroponic growing systems are thought to have little risk of containing bacteria that can sicken produce consumers. A Purdue University study, however, has found the presence of Shiga toxin-producing E. coli (STEC) — the same bacteria that have made consumers of several produce products ill — in hydroponic and aquaponic growing systems.

Purdue researchers leap to discover more about coronavirus

As the novel coronavirus pandemic approaches 1 million cases worldwide, Purdue University researchers have launched more than 30 research projects and have applied for funding for nearly 20 additional projects.

Purdue has announced that university-sponsored events involving external visitors will be canceled effective March 16 through May 2. The Big Ten Conference has canceled intercollegiate athletic competition by its member universities for the spring.
