New Purdue Institutional Review Board to launch July 1

Adapting a model to better serve the interdisciplinary nature of human subjects research at Purdue, the Human Research Protection Program will merge its Biomedical and Social Science Institutional Review Boards to form the Purdue Institutional Review Board, effective July 1.

The sesquicentennial celebration marks a time for Purdue to renew its commitment to growth, discovery and innovation. What giant leaps will the next 150 years bring as Purdue continues its drive to meet the world's future challenges? In this monthly Purdue Today series, Purdue's deans will share their thoughts on the future of their college over the next 150 years. The series continues with Patrick J. Wolfe, the Frederick L. to receive Humboldt
Research Award

Purdue professor Gerhard Klimeck, whose work is opening research avenues for scientists the world over, will be presented today (June 27) with the prestigious Humboldt Research Award at Charlottenburg Palace in Berlin, Germany. Attending the ceremonies will be Germany’s Chancellor Angela Merkel and President Frank-Walter Steinmeier.

Biowall

Interior wall brings breath of fresh air to home of the future

More than 3.8 million deaths worldwide each year are blamed on household air pollution, and scientists are turning to many strategies to try to clean the air in homes and business, including the use of everyday plants. A Purdue project called the Biowall is showing promise at using a wall of plants to clear the air within businesses and homes.
