Giant Leaps Research: Alina Alexeenko

Research continues on an eventual 140-million-mile mission to Mars, developing the latest transportation as well as habitats necessary for the red planet. But embarking on such a mission and safely living both during and afterward are differing ideas. The latter is the research focus of Alina Alexeenko.

So, what will it take to bring a stronger voice of STEM expertise into global policy discussions and implementations? The Jefferson Science Symposium will delve into "What IF We Could Engineer Policy?" on April 28-30.

A desire to explore new ideas and learn from the best is what attracted Ersal Ozdemir to study civil engineering at Purdue and then go on to take giant leaps by starting a construction company and bringing professional soccer to Indianapolis. "Purdue Engineering provided me with a strong foundation to be successful in life," Ozdemir says.
