Technology firm founder, Purdue alumnus to speak on campus

Kong Kat Wong, entrepreneur and co-founder of Xiaomi, one of China’s leading technology firms, will speak at 6:30 p.m. April 9 in Stewart Center’s Fowler Hall. This Giant Leaps Series event is free and open to the public.

Vint Cerf, Google chief internet evangelist who is widely known as a “Father of the Internet,” will take a “non-expert” look at artificial intelligence and this emerging idea from all angles when he visits Purdue on April 5. “What IF Machines Thought like Humans,” which is sponsored by the College of Engineering, will take place at 1 p.m. in Stewart Center’s Fowler Hall. The event is a part of Purdue’s Ideas Festival and is part of a busy week of stretching minds. Don't Miss It!

Agriculture Perdue to
visit Purdue campus

U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Sonny Perdue will be traveling to Purdue on Tuesday (April 2) to meet with students, faculty and statewide agricultural industry leaders. President Mitch Daniels will host Perdue for a conversation open to the public at 9-10 a.m. in Stewart Center’s Fowler Hall.

What IF eating insects saved the planet?

What if you could save the planet by eating bugs? That not only might be a possibility, but in some parts of the world, eating insects isn’t a novel idea. Purdue professor Andrea Liceaga and chef Joseph Yoon of Brooklyn Bugs will discuss the benefits of eating and cooking with insects during an Ideas Festival event on Thursday (April 4).
