Timing, additional information released for staff
appreciation payment

As President Mitch Daniels announced in February, benefit-eligible staff who were employed on Dec. 31, 2018, and have an annual salary of equal to or less than $75,000 will receive a one-time appreciation payment of $500 in recognition of their efforts and commitment to making Purdue’s affordability policies a reality.

C-sections are seen as breastfeeding barrier in the U.S., but not in other global communities

The increase in cesarean sections is on the verge of a global epidemic. Though the World Health Organization recommends an optimal C-section rate of 10-15 percent, the United States’ C-section rate is more than 30 percent. In many Latin American countries, the procedure is skyrocketing, reaching more than 50 percent in some.

Laux receives Murphy Award

Dawn Laux, associate department head and clinical associate professor in the Department of Computer and Information Technology, has been named a recipient of the 2019 Outstanding Undergraduate Teaching Award in Memory of Charles B. Murphy. Laux was surprised with the news on Wednesday (March 20).
