Purdue Quality of Work Environment Initiative focus groups highlight key staff issues

The Purdue Quality of Work Environment Initiative conducted focus groups with a cross-section of staff in December and January as part of Phase 1 of the initiative. The goal of the initiative is to better understand and improve the quality of Purdue's work environment for staff.

White paper examines year-round calendar question

A white paper that addresses the University's possible transition to a year-round academic calendar is now available online.

Faculty to share IMPACT experiences at CIE conference

The Center for Instructional Excellence will host a conference Wednesday and Thursday (March 26-27) that focuses on faculty members' methods and experiences in transforming their teaching methods to meet 21st-century students' needs.

Purdue discovery leads to Endocyte drug that receives positive opinion from EU regulatory body

A cancer-targeting innovation discovered more than two decades ago by a Purdue professor of chemistry and his then-graduate research assistant could be closer to benefiting patients with ovarian and lung cancers and other diseases after receiving positive opinions from clinical trials conducted in the U.S. and Europe.

WBAA to begin spring member drive Friday with 'dinner and a show' giveaway

WBAA, public radio from Purdue, will begin its spring member drive on Friday (March 28) with a dinner and a show giveaway as part of its 60-minute Power Hour.

WBAA seeking volunteers for Spring Member Drive

WBAA public radio is looking for faculty and staff volunteers to help answer phones during its Spring Member Drive on Friday (March 28) through April 4. Those interested in donating one or more hours of time between 6 a.m. and 7 p.m. that week should contact Sue Hill at hill179@wbaa.org or 49-45920.

FIRST Robotics

High school teams test out robot creations at FIRST Robotics Boilermaker Regional

President Mitch Daniels and Kija Davis, a high school student on Team 45 from Kokomo, look over her team's entry from a spot in the spectator area at the FIRST Robotics Boilermaker Regional on Friday (March 21). High school students work with professional engineers, teachers and parents to design, build and test a robot in just six weeks to compete in regional competitions across the nation. This is the 10th anniversary for the Boilermaker Regional, which is supported by the Purdue FIRST Programs, a student organization and class at Purdue.

Registration open for STEP camp for high school students considering engineering

Registration is open for next summer's Purdue University Seminar for Top Engineering Prospects (STEP). STEP is a one-week camp for high school students entering their senior year who are interested in studying engineering. It provides an opportunity to explore disciplines within engineering and the careers for which an engineering degree can prepare a student.

Planting a home garden at the first sign of spring weather might cause big problems later, especially when more freeze days are likely ahead, a Purdue Extension horticulture specialist says.

Purdue women's basketball heading to NCAA second round today

The Boilermakers defeated Akron 84-55 on Saturday (March 22) in the first round of the NCAA Women's Basketball Tournament. The Purdue women's basketball team will face Oklahoma State at 9 p.m. today (March 24) at Mackey Arena.

Cabassol closes out career with 3rd All-America honor

Purdue diver Michelle Cabassol earned two All-America honors with a fourth-place finish in the championship final of 3-meter diving and a second-place finish in the consolation final of 1-meter diving at the NCAA Championships for women's swimming and diving.

Tweardy earns All-America honor

Purdue diver MacKenzie Tweardy's All-America honor earned via an eighth-place finish in the championship final of platform diving highlighted the final day of action on Saturday (March 22) at the NCAA Championships for women's swimming and diving.
