Collaboration between Purdue and the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Agricultural Research Service (USDA-ARS) takes place in three units housed on campus. Going back decades, this mutually beneficial arrangement includes land and research space use, project assistance, employment of students and more -- all helping agriculture and the environment on a national level.

President Mitch Daniels has issued a statement about the July 2013 letter from AAU and APLU regarding federal research funding and a related July 2012 letter. The Association of American Universities and the Association of Public and Land-grant Universities wrote the letters to President Barack Obama and members of Congress.

Cheryl Files was elected vice chair of the Clerical and Service Staff Advisory Committee on Aug. 13 during the group's regular meeting.
Individuals interested in learning more about SharePoint are invited to attend the next SharePoint Users and Developers (SPUD) meeting on Tuesday (Aug. 27). The meeting will be a forum where those who would like to use SharePoint in their area or learn more about the software's functionality can get questions answered.
The Purdue Employees Activity Program, a subcommittee of the Clerical and Service Staff Advisory Committee, is sponsoring an Oct. 19 bus trip to the Mansfield and Bridgeton covered bridge festivals.
General news
In response to student comments to the Student Satisfaction Survey, the Purdue University Student Health Center has added online appointment scheduling to the center's services.
Purdue Galleries will open two new exhibits next week, both room-size gallery installations -- one in the Robert L. Ringel Gallery in Stewart Center, the other in the new Fountain Gallery in downtown Lafayette.
People like to eat good food, so it's no shock that the Demonstration Kitchen at the Córdova Recreational Sports Center has become a busy and attractive place to learn about food and cooking. Among six demonstration series this fall, events in two series are especially likely to appeal to staff, faculty and their families.
