Purdue Galleries to begin new season of exhibits with changes

Purdue University Galleries opens its 2012-13 season on Monday (Aug. 27) with an installation of stage designs from Purdue Theatre and changes to its gallery locations.

"The Miracle Worker, Iphigenia: Beauty Queen and Blithe Spirit" will be presented from Aug. 27 through Oct. 7 in the Robert L. Ringel Gallery in Stewart Center. The Galleries' new 2012-13 exhibit schedule is available for download at www.cla.purdue.edu/galleries.

Arts at Purdue highlighted in publication

A semester's worth of arts and entertainment information will be distributed this week in campus mail in the Fall 2012 issue of Arts at Purdue, produced for the first time in cooperation with the Lafayette Journal & Courier.

Proposals sought as part of engagement efforts with India

The Office of Engagement is seeking proposals from faculty to foster research, education and business development anchors in India. The deadline to submit a proposal is 5 p.m. Aug. 31.

Email-based program aims to help participants make healthy, nutritional changes

WorkLife Programs is introducing a new email-based program called Healthy Resolutions. The nine-month program is geared at helping participants change their health habits, one month at a time.

Purdue again urges bicycle, pedestrian safety

With the opening of the academic year, a campaign aimed at keeping pedestrians and bicyclists safe is again under way at Purdue.

Low oxygen boosts stem cell survival in muscular dystrophy therapy

Controlling the amount of oxygen that stem cells are exposed to can significantly increase the effectiveness of a procedure meant to combat an often fatal form of muscular dystrophy, according to Purdue research.

Funds are available to provide grants to students or student organizations for work on community service learning projects.

Purdue football's Meet the Team event set for Saturday

Purdue football will host the third annual Meet the Team event from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday (Aug. 25) at the north plaza area of Ross-Ade Stadium. There is no charge for admission, and the event features free food and drink as well as a chance to interact with the 2012 Purdue football team.
