Research forecasts increased chances for stormy weather

Researchers who study severe weather and climate change joined forces to study the effects of global warming on the number of severe storms in the future and discovered a dramatic increase in potential storm conditions for some parts of the United States.

The Purdue-led team used climate models to examine future weather conditions favorable to formation of severe thunderstorms - those that produce flooding, damaging winds, hail and sometimes spawn tornadoes. More

Good dog! Comical canine teaches economics in children's DVD

A children's DVD proves you can teach old, economically challenged dogs new tricks and educate kids, too.

In "Herschel's World of Economics," the puppet dog Herschel learns about the roles of consumers and producers in an economy, and the choices each makes. The DVD, geared toward elementary school children, was produced by the Indiana Council for Economic Education (ICEE) and Purdue University's Department of Agricultural Communication, with financial support from Teachers Credit Union. More 

New scholarship available for aviation students from Fulton County

A Purdue University scholarship is available to students from Fulton County who are pursuing a degree in the Department of Aviation Technology's professional flight technology program. More 

Purdue awards first scholarships through federal Homeland Security STEM program

Seven Purdue graduate students will receive research scholarships through the university's Homeland Security Science, Engineering, Technology and Mathematics Career Development program. More

Purdue names director for Discovery Park's entrepreneurship center

Kenneth Kahn
Kenneth Kahn will be the Avrum and Joyce Gray Director of the Burton D. Morgan Center for Entrepreneurship, effective Jan. 1, Purdue University officials announced.

In addition to directing the center, Kahn will be a professor in the Department of Industrial Technology. He succeeds interim director Alan Rebar, who remains executive director of Discovery Park. More
