October 30, 2023

Dear Colleagues,

It is my privilege to serve you as executive vice president for research. In this role, it is so exciting to see the vast array of research projects and scholarly activities across campus that show immense potential for impact. The breakthroughs you create move science forward through high-profile journal articles and applications that have a short- or long-term benefits for humanity.

Purdue is a leader in national and economic security to provide safe and secure livelihoods for all. In addition to national defense, we focus on research that enhances the life sciences, improves health outcomes, strengthens energy security, ensures a safe and dependable food supply, meets our infrastructure needs and protects the environment. Scholarly activities in the liberal arts and social sciences provide a balance to Purdue’s portfolio that helps develop a safe and secure lifestyle for all.

As you read Dimensions of Discovery, you can see the depth and breadth of the science that energizes me every day. From working on cancer cures and understanding the environmental impact of toxic chemicals to developing advances in microelectronics (chips) and computing that impacts our lives every day, together we are advancing national security and economic prosperity for all.

Please feel free to let me know about the breakthroughs you are working on and how my team can continue to support you in your creative endeavors.
