Restart computers Sept. 6 for Java upgrade

The upgrade to Java version 1.8.0.172 was originally installed on Aug. 3 and will be re-installed on all Physical Facilities, Environmental Health and Public Safety and Service Enterprises computers on Friday, Sept. 7. Employees will need to restart their machines and leave them connected to the network at the end of their assigned shifts on Thursday, Sept. 6, in order to receive the upgrade during the overnight maintenance window.

When the initial upgrade to this version of Java was completed in early-August, issues with Kronos functionality were discovered and the version was reverted as a temporary solution. To allow continued Kronos access following the upgrade on Sept. 7, Kronos supervisors or time administrators will receive the new version of Java and also retain the current version that allows Kronos activity. If Kronos supervisors or time administrators experience system interruptions following the upgrade, contact ITaP and request to be added to the "Kronos Supervisor collection."
