Purdue highlighting Careers in Student Affairs Month with activities

October 20, 2015

October is Careers in Student Affairs Month, and Purdue is recognizing the occasion by sponsoring various activities and outreach.

NASPA-Student Affairs Administrators in Higher Education, a professional association focused on the advancement, health, and sustainability of the student affairs profession, sponsors the month as "an opportunity to celebrate, grow, and discover." The month is dedicated to the celebration of a career in student affairs, education and awareness in the profession, and engagement with professional associations and peers in the field.

Several NASPA webinars will be held as part of the activities. Each webinar will be at 4-5 p.m. in Krach Leadership Center, Room 260, and light refreshments will be served. Webinars are open to the campus community. Dates and topics are:

* Thursday (Oct. 22) -- The Different #SAPaths.

* Oct. 27 (T) -- Work Life Integration.

* Oct. 29 (Th) -- Navigating Your NASPA Membership:  How to Become a NASPA Nerd.

Also as part of the month, Beth McCuskey, vice provost for student life, is hosting undergraduate students for dinner and discussion about student affairs careers with Purdue student affairs professionals. The dinner and discussion, open to any undergraduate student, will be 5-6:30 p.m. Oct. 27 in Krach Leadership Center, Room 270. No registration is required.
