Ismail Center to host health education series

The A.H. Ismail Center is holding a free health education series targeting different aspects of physical activity that will help lead participants to a healthier lifestyle.
Sessions will provide information on how exercise could be the medicine missing in someone's health regimen and the many benefits it can bring. Participants will learn about the many effects of exercise on chronic disease as well as tips to overcome obstacles that get in people's way when it comes to physical activity.
The series also will include a session about what to eat before and after physical activity along with a cooking demonstration.
Sessions, which are open to the public, will be held 12:10-12:50 p.m. in Lyles-Porter Hall, Room 1028. The following are the session dates with topic and presenter:
* Wednesday (Oct. 14) -- "Physical Activity: Overcoming Obstacles " with Lane Yahiro, clinical associate professor and director of the Ismail Center.
* Oct. 21 -- "Physical Activity and Chronic Disease" with Tim Gavin, head/professor of health and kinesiology.
* Oct. 28 -- "What to Eat Pre and Post Physical Activity?" with Jill Wanchisn, managing director of the Department of Nutrition Science.
* Nov. 4 -- "Cooking Demo: Pre-exercise Meals" with Jill Wanchisn, managing director of the Department of Nutrition Science. This session will take place in the Lyles-Porter Hall Demo Kitchen, Room 1107.
