Over the past two weeks, Wenjing Guan and her collaborator, Lei Zhang from the Department of Botany and Plant Pathology, presented their research on managing root-knot nematodes in high tunnel tomato systems at the Mid-Atlantic Fruit and Vegetable Convention. Wenjing also delivered presentations at three in-state Extension events: the Northwest Indiana Vegetable Farmer Workshop (with Liz Maynard) on vegetable quality, the Wakarusa Produce Grower PARP Program on watermelon and melon production, and the Clearsprings Produce Auction on tomato production. In addition, Wenjing attended the SR-ASHS meeting in Louisville, KY, where she shared lessons learned from ten years of watermelon variety trials. She also participated in the Great Lakes Vegetable Working Group meeting, leading a discussion on position Extension programs to serve growers of different scales, and providing an overview of how Purdue Extension specialists support Indiana strawberry growers.
