Indiana Diverse Farm Tour Showcases Organic Innovation at Living Prairie Farms

Organic oilseed sunflowers

Tour participants visited a field of organic oilseed sunflowers that will be harvested in about a month.

The Indiana Diverse Farm Tour of Living Prairie Farms in Wolcott on August 27 was organized by Ashley Adair and Liz Maynard in collaboration with ANR Educators Summer Brinkman and Marty Huseman, with assistance from Emily DeaKyne. The event featured discussion of organic popcorn, small grains, sunflowers, and soybean production, and presentations by Purdue and University of Illinois researchers about insects and weeds in organic and diversified systems. The tour was sponsored by the Diverse Corn Belt project, Indiana Organic Network, and USDA NIFA Grant 2022-51300-38056.
