Dr. Linda Prokopy named new Horticulture and Landscape Architecture Department Head

After a national search, Dr. Linda Prokopy has been named by Dean Plaut as the new Head of the Department of Horticulture and Landscape Architecture (HLA), effective January 1, 2021. Dr. Prokopy has served as Co-Director of the Natural Resources and Environmental Sciences (NRES) Interdisciplinary Undergraduate Program since 2017 where she has worked to double the number of students in the program.

Dr. Prokopy has been a member of the Forestry and Natural Resources (FNR) faculty since 2003 and Director of the Indiana Water Resources Research Center since 2016. She earned a B.S. in Resource Policy and Behavior from the University of Michigan and an M.S. and a Ph.D. in Environmental Planning from the University of North Carolina.

Dr. Prokopy has many years of experience in research and extension outreach and is internationally recognized for her work to understand what motivates farmers to adopt conservation practices. She is the author or co-author of 120 journal publications, 4 book chapters, 7 datasets, and numerous extension outputs. She has also taught the FNR capstone class, several graduate courses, learning communities and completed a revision to the NRES curriculum. I am very excited about the leadership she will bring to our HLA department.
