Beautiful Day for the 2025 Meig’s Fruit Pruning Workshop

Miranda Purcell presenting to the attendees of the Pruning Workshop

The Fruit Pruning Workshop at Meig’s Horticultural Research Farm on Tuesday was a great success, with 52 attendees eager to refine their pruning skills. The unusually warm weather made for a very enjoyable day in the orchard and vineyard. The event featured sessions covering a variety of fruit crops: Karen Mitchell guided participants through apple pruning techniques, Miranda Purcell demonstrated proper grape pruning methods, and Chloe Henscheid provided insights on bramble pruning. In addition to hands-on pruning instruction, attendees also learned essential tool care practices, including sharpening and cleaning.

A special thank you to the Area 9 Purdue Extension Educators for hosting this valuable workshop and the Meig’s Farm staff for providing a great learning environment for all who attended.
