Aaron Thompson Attended Ground Breaking

Dr. Aaron Thompson attended the groundbreaking ceremony for the J Long 2nd Street Memorial Park in Connersville, Indiana on July 26th. The park is currently under construction with a late October timeline for being opened to the public. Purdue landscape architecture students played a critical role in the redevelopment of this park through a Fall 2019 studio followed by staff from the Center for Community & Environmental Design (CCED) helping the community complete the park design. CCED director, Aaron Thompson, also connected the community partners with professional landscape architects from Rundell Ernstberger Associates who are overseeing the final design development and the construction of the park. Beginning as a Purdue Center for Regional Development partnership, this park represents a unique collaboration of Purdue Extension, Purdue Experiential Education, and private design consultants to support Indiana communities.
