Catching the Creative Spark: An Art-Informed Approach to Landscape Architecture Practice

Lisa Casey, Principal, studioOutside
February 6, 5:30 PM
Dean’s Auditorium PFEN 241

Creativity never follows a linear path and openness to observation inspires an artful approach. Design intersects and overlaps with the creation of art from subtle details to full collaboration with an artist and gallery. Join us for an exploration of art within landscape architecture through three case studies: an interpretive prairie piece in a community park, a landscape-architect driven sculpture in an urban park, and finally a collaboration with a fine artist to site a three-story sculpture and design a corresponding fountain on a new campus. Presentation will illuminate the process from creative spark through technical delivery and explore how great work comes through multi-expert collaboration.
