Recipient of Fulbright-Nehru Scholarship (2026-27) for Excellence in Research and Teaching

Recipient of 2026-27 Fellowship

  1. India:
  • Research collaborations with GB. Pant University of Agriculture and Technology and Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agriculture and Technology, India
  • Speaker for a World Bank-sponsored series related to the Institutional Development Program at the G.B. Pant Agriculture University and Technology, the first agricultural university in India.
  • Co-applicant for visiting scientists on two SERB projects, one Fulbright project, and two Purdue-India OVDF programs
  • Recipient of Purdue-India overseas visiting doctoral fellowship grant. A graduate student from India will be visiting Nemali’s lab for one year
  • Recipient of the US-India Fulbright Scholarship on climate-smart agriculture using digital technologies
  1. Egypt:
  • USDA FAS funded collaboration with the Plant Protection Research Institute, Egypt, to develop low-cost and reliable hydroponic production systems for Egypt.
  • Borlaug Fellowship grant to train Egyptian researchers in hydroponic production at Purdue University.
  • Curriculum development for the Center of Excellence in Agriculture, Egypt, supported by USAID.
  1. China: Hosted two M.S. students from China Agricultural University for post-graduate training in image analysis and vertical farming.
  2. Brazil: Hosted one Ph.D. student from the University of São Paulo, Brazil to conduct research on microgreens at Purdue
  3. Japan: Invited by Utsunomiya University, Japan to present research and identify collaboration areas with faculty.
  4. United Kingdom: Purdue-IGS Collaboration: Supported collaborations between Purdue and Intelligent Growing Solutions, UK, a manufacturer of vertical farms.
  5. Canada: Speaker for an event organized by the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food, and Rural Affairs
  6. Italy: Hosted a Ph.D. student from the University of Italy, Rome for 6 months
  7. El Salvador: Assessment of hydroponics industry, training to extension educators and researchers in the Ministry of Agriculture, and development of educational material and greenhouse designs for local growers
