Purdue University online Master of Health Administration degree recognized for providing high-quality education

As it meets the evolving needs of healthcare, Purdue University’s Master of Health Administration (MHA) program was recently named one of the best online master’s degree programs in health administration by OnlineMastersDegrees.org (OMD), earning the No. 3 spot on the list.
The rankings are based on an in-depth analysis of MHA programs at more than 7,700 schools, using data from the U.S Department of Education. The analysis included factors such as the availability of online programs, the number of programs in the subject area, the number of students enrolled, and metrics on cost and the impact of institutional aid.

Housed within the College of Health and Human Sciences, Purdue’s MHA program is directed by Cody Mullen, clinical associate professor in the Department of Public Health.
“Purdue’s Master of Health Administration provides a high-quality education at a great value to working professionals,” Mullen said. “The affordability of the MHA coupled with its focus on practical, action-based skills training that is centered in theory makes it a great option for healthcare professionals who want to move into administration or demonstrate more expertise in their current role.”
In its description of Purdue’s ranking, OMD highlighted some of the notable features of Purdue’s MHA program, including the faculty’s extensive experience, the program’s practice-based instruction, and the accessibility to working professionals.
“The faculty in the MHA program bring years of industry experience to the classroom,” Mullen said. “They have a thorough understanding of the healthcare field, and they focus on teaching students the skills necessary to truly be successful in the dynamic and ever-changing industry.”
Purdue’s MHA program also offers several graduate certificates that can be completed by both degree and non-degree-seeking students to allow students to develop in-demand skills in less time. Graduate certificates in healthcare leadership and healthcare operations are currently available, and a certificate in healthcare quality improvement will be available in fall 2022. Credits from the graduate certificates can also be transferred into the full master’s degree. Since they were introduced in fall 2021, total enrollment for the MHA program and healthcare leadership certificate has been 19 students.

In addition to the MHA program, the College of Health and Human Sciences offers a variety of other online graduate programs, including a Master of Public Health and a Master of Science in Hospitality and Tourism Management.
