  1. For A, wouldn’t the distance to the centroid of the left load be 5.5d instead of 7d (the whole distance as was described in the video)? This makes more sense because it results in a final distance of 3.5ft (right in the middle) and both the left and right loads have the same magnitude of 30 kips and same distances from the center?

      For the rectangular distributed load, the equivalent force acts at the centroid of the rectangle, which is at the midpoint of the loaded length.
      For the triangular distributed load, the equivalent force acts at the centroid of the triangle. The centroid of a triangle is located at 1/3 of the base length measured from the larger-intensity side.
