Programs Involving Minors Policy Training

Protecting youth is everyone's responsibility. 

These trainings will assist you and your program in complying with Purdue University's Programs Involving Minors policy. and state laws regarding mandatory reporting of child abuse and neglect.

This program covers the responsibilities of those serving in the role of Program Director for a youth event affiliated with Purdue. Learners will understand their role as Program Director, learn the steps required to maintain compliance with the Operating Procedures for Programs Involving Minors, explore the relevant university policies for youth programs, and explore the requirements related to reporting suspected child abuse or neglect. This training must be completed in addition to the Program Staff training as Program Directors are also considered Program Staff. 

Audience: Anyone serving in the role of Program Director for a youth program

Time: 30 minutes 

Recurrence: Every 24 months

Guidance for Minors as Employees

This program covers responsibilities regarding sexual harassment and child sexual abuse. Participants will become familiar with University policy and practices focusing on sexual harassment and child sexual abuse; and will learn to foster safe and respectful University environments to better protect students, faculty, and staff from incidents of sexual harassment and abuse.

Audience: Faculty, Staff, Students, and recognized volunteers

Required Reporting of Child Abuse & Neglect

Identifying and reporting suspected child abuse or neglect can be an intimidating task.

This module is provided for Purdue employees and students who may not be directly involved in a youth program to better understand their obligation to report suspected child abuse and neglect in their educational environment.

This module covers signs and symptoms of abuse, how and where to report suspected abuse or neglect, and includes some scenarios where current students might encounter minors on campus. 

Audience: Purdue employees and students

Time: less than 20 minutes
