Impacting Global Security

Our world sits at a crossroads where global security threats and instability combined with advancing technology threaten to pervade and potentially transform society in ways we have not contemplated in the past. These threats and resulting tensions have dimensions that are both technical and social in nature and thus must be confronted holistically in devising pathways to greater security. Our goal is to provide integrated, world-class scientific, engineering, policy, economic, and social science problem-solving capabilities and solutions.

Discovery Park is combining mission-inspired research and workforce development with critical academic, commercial, and government partnerships to investigate crucial research areas such as hypersonics, energetic materials, artificial intelligence, trusted microelectronics, and cybersecurity. Poised on the leading edge of these advanced disciplines, Discovery Park is positioned to be a world leader in the global security arena.

Institute for Global Security and Defense Innovation

The I-GSDI will build on strengths and integrate within other Purdue and Discovery Park Centers and Institutes. I-GSDI will provide cross-cutting research capabilities to Purdue’s strength and core competences in STEM, advanced instrumentation, nanotechnology, social and behavioral sciences, big data/simulation/cyber security, entrepreneurship, and complex systems. These cross-cutting capabilities will consist of, but not be limited to, research in autonomous/cognitive systems, cyber, propulsion, energetics and thermal management, advanced electronics and photonics, etc.

Center for Education and Research in Information Assurance and Security (CERIAS)

The Center for Education and Research in Information Assurance and Security (CERIAS) is one of the world’s leading centers for research and education in areas of information security that are crucial to the protection of critical computing and communication infrastructure. CERIAS is unique among such national centers in its multidisciplinary approach to the problems, ranging from purely technical issues (e.g., intrusion detection, network security, etc) to ethical, legal, educational, communicational, linguistic, and economic issues, and the subtle interactions and dependencies among them.
