Commencement Day

* There will be no rehearsal.

Armory Instructions

As a candidate, you must arrive at the Armory wearing your cap and gown 90 minutes prior to the start of your ceremony. All ceremonies are on Eastern Time.

You will check in by college/school, then by last name. A professional portrait will be taken for those who arrive on time. If you arrive less than 90 minutes before your ceremony, you may forfeit the opportunity for a professional portrait.

Procession Instructions

If an emergency causes you to arrive after the start of the academic procession, DO NOT enter the procession line. Instead, report to the Elliott Hall of Music Lobby. If you arrive after the ceremony has started, you will not be permitted to participate in the ceremony. If you wish to participate in a future summer or winter ceremony, you may refer to Returnee Participation Information webpage.

Diplomas

In spring, candidates who indicated attendance through the Commencement tab and have been cleared by their college/school will receive their diploma as they walk across the stage. If you receive a certificate inscribed with Purdue University, your name, and the date of the degree conferral, this IS your diploma.

Diplomas will be mailed to the graduate's "Diploma" or "Permanent" address approximately six-to-eight weeks after the ceremony for the following candidates:

  • Spring candidates who did not indicate attendance
  • Summer or Winter Candidates

Please review your address in the Commencement tab under Diploma Mailing Address.  Once the Commencement tab has closed, you can still add a diploma address in myPurdue.  If you fail to provide a Diploma Mailing address by your commencement date, your diploma will be mailed to the permanent address on file.
