Graduates holding diplomas

Diploma Information

Your diploma is more than a document — it’s proof of your Purdue journey and next giant leap. Here’s what to expect after completing your degree requirements.

When You’ll Receive Your Diploma

If you’ve met all degree requirements and your college has cleared you to graduate, your diploma will be mailed through the U.S. Postal Service about 6–8 weeks after the end of the term. International deliveries may take 8–10 weeks. Tracking information is not available.

Provide your diploma mailing address through the Commencement Task List in the myPurdue portal by the deadline. If no diploma address is provided, it will be mailed to your permanent address on file — which may be outdated. Diplomas that are held due to missing or invalid mailing addresses or returned as undeliverable will be kept for one calendar year after the conferral date. After that, you’ll need to order a duplicate or reissued diploma.

International Address

Diplomas designated to be shipped to an international address will have a tracking number provided at the time of shipment.

Diploma Details

Diploma size:

  • Undergraduate: 9 ⅝ × 7 ⅝ inches
  • Graduate and professional: 11 × 8 ½ inches
  • Diploma framing: Avoid framing processes that use heat — they can damage your diploma.
  • Understanding Your Diploma and Transcript: Purdue diplomas list your degree only. Majors, minors and concentrations appear on your official transcript. Students with multiple majors within the same college receive one diploma listing their degree. Your degree will appear on your transcript about a week after the semester ends, once your college has cleared you for graduation. You can check your progress in myPurdue under your unofficial transcript.

Duplicate diplomas are printed with the current university president and Board of Trustees chair signatures, following national registrar standards.

Digital Diplomas (CeDiploma® / CeCertificate®)

Purdue now offers Certified Electronic Diplomas and Certificates (CeDiploma®/CeCertificate®) — secure, official PDF versions of your credential(s) that can be shared instantly with employers, licensing agencies or on social media.

Once your electronic credential is ready (usually 8–10 weeks after the end of term), you’ll receive an email from info@cecredentialtrust.com with retrieval instructions.

For continuing students at Purdue University in Indianapolis who also qualify to receive an Indiana University (IU) diploma, a separate credential validation is required. Validate your IU CeDiploma.

Benefits of Your CeDiploma

  • Secure and verifiable digital document
  • Easily shared with employers, family and friends
  • Includes a unique Certified Electronic Document Identifier (CeDID) for instant validation
  • Enhances your resume and speeds up verification

Note: For security reasons, electronic diplomas cannot be printed. Credentials are not available for all conferral dates.

International Certification (Apostille)

You usually do not need an Apostille for Purdue’s Certified Electronic Diploma (CeDiploma). This digital version of your diploma is an official, legally recognized document that can be instantly verified online.

Each CeDiploma includes a unique digital identifier that allows employers, agencies or schools — in the U.S. or abroad — to confirm its authenticity with confidence.
