A new Purdue-developed drug designed to help surgeons find cancer tumors and cells has been approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. Cytalux, invented by College of Science professor Philip Low, is the first tumor-targeted fluorescent marker for ovarian cancer to be FDA-approved.

On the sometimes-foggy journey of following genetic traits to breed resilient plants, a newly identified gene lights the way to soybeans’ natural resistance to a devastating disease. Purdue announced an academic-industrial partnership with Corteva Agriscience, resulting in the identification of an individual gene responsible for Phytophthora resistance so plant breeders can easily detect which plants carry the trait.

The Purdue community on Monday (Nov. 29) welcomed to campus Peanut Butter and Jelly, the two turkeys that received presidential pardons earlier this month and now will live at Purdue’s Animal Science Research and Education Center. Boilermakers had the opportunity to take photos with Peanut Butter and Jelly, who were in an enclosed pen on Memorial Mall.
