As of today (Nov. 12), response to the post-open enrollment survey is lower than expected. Human Resources – Benefits is reminding employees and encouraging their participation in this brief, two-part survey. Responses are requested by Monday (Nov. 15).

The new episode of “This Is Purdue” podcast features Jamie Richards (USN, retired), director of Purdue’s Veterans Success Center; Maj. Gen. Theresa Carter (USAF, retired), Purdue trustee; and Ryann Laky, Purdue alumna and deputy joint operations center officer in charge for the Indiana National Guard. Hear about how Purdue’s ROTC program prepared Carter and Laky for their military careers and about the Veterans Success Center's programs and resources for military-connected students. For Purdue alumna and U.S. Army Reserve Sgt. Morgan Torres, each moment of life fills her with a sense of purpose. Torres has devoted her life to service in all forms, from community to country. She now brings that passion back to Purdue in a professional capacity at the Veterans Success Center, one of the places she found support and opportunities to serve as a student and member of the U.S. Army Reserve.

When spacecraft explode, this engineer looks for answers in the debris

Much of the space junk orbiting Earth won’t clean up itself – or tell you how it got there. Purdue University’s Carolin Frueh, associate professor of aeronautics and astronautics, and her team are investigating what causes spacecraft to become space junk. Their findings are revealing ways to prevent spacecraft from breaking apart into thousands of pieces of debris that pose a threat to space stations and satellites.
