'This Is Purdue': Dr. Jerome Adams to lead health equity initiatives at Purdue

“This Is Purdue” welcomes Dr. Jerome Adams, Purdue’s first executive director of health equity initiatives and Presidential Fellow. Adams, the former Indiana state health commissioner and the 20th U.S. surgeon general, discusses his background, how he felt when he got the call to serve as the nation’s doctor, and what health equity means. Adams also explains how he intends to help amplify the efforts of the Purdue Extension program to promote health equity throughout Indiana as well as work with the business community to make the case for health equity as workforce and economic issues. Umit Karabiyik

Device information can be too much of a good thing for investigations

Take a walk outside and, Purdue's Umit Karabiyik says, video-enabled doorbells or street cameras are recording you. He says most people are carrying at least three devices that are each filing away different data about them. For law enforcement investigations, all of this data is considered digital “fingerprints” – information possibly needed to solve a crime. Karabiyik is working to give law enforcement the means to receive and handle potentially terabytes of such data.

Holcomb joins Purdue officials to celebrate impact of Saab facility

Purdue’s economic impact on the state continues to grow. That’s why Indiana Gov. Eric Holcomb and state officials joined those from Purdue on Wednesday (Oct. 13) to celebrate the grand opening of Saab’s West Lafayette facility. The multimillion-dollar facility, located in the Discovery Park District adjacent to the Purdue campus, supports production of the U.S. Air Force's next-generation T-7A jet trainer.
