Purdue student project to add flare – via flamethrower – to Burning Man event

What other place would a 100-foot flamethrower created by students from Purdue's School of Aeronautics and Astronautics fit in better than the annual Burning Man event in the Nevada desert? The flamethrower, dubbed "Big Friendly Flame," was created by a 10-member team in the Propulsion Design, Build, Test class this year. Attached to a fire truck called "Heathen," the project will be center stage at the event, which begins Sunday (Aug. 26).
