The new location of Purdue's Welcome Center in Purdue Memorial Union offers a host of updated features and amenities to those looking to learn more about the West Lafayette campus. The center is located in Room 110, just inside the Union's easternmost doors. It's a prime location since many visitors find themselves wandering into the Union from the adjacent Grant Street Parking Garage, says Mary King, senior director of customer relationship marketing.
Faculty and staff news
Purdue has entered an agreement with Xerox for on-campus print management with the goal to reduce costs, improve productivity and enhance services for the campus community. The operational changeover will occur Monday (Feb. 3).
As part of an ongoing strategy to foster entrepreneurship, Purdue innovators now have access to a Purdue Startup Guide that provides information on how to protect and commercialize an invention.
Anthem representatives will be available at the West Lafayette campus several days this winter to meet one-on-one with employees about their 2014 Purdue medical coverage. Anthem is Purdue's 2014 medical plan administrator.
Current employees now have access to their 2013 W-2 forms through the OnePurdue portal by selecting "Employee Self-Service" and then "Taxes." Payroll Services mailed 2013 W-2 forms on Jan. 24 to all employees' current addresses. The Internal Revenue Service will begin processing tax returns on Friday (Jan. 31).
Employees' pay stubs each pay period reflect gross income, but their W-2 reflects taxable wages. Payroll Services offers these instructions to reconcile the difference between the pay stub and W-2.
Chilled water leak to close portion of Stadium Avenue today
Crews plan to close all lanes of Stadium Avenue all day today (Jan. 30) from Russell Street westward to the service drive east of Tarkington Residence Hall in order to repair a chilled water leak. The work had been postponed due to weather.
Research news
Researchers have discovered a potential treatment for a viral infection that causes potentially fatal brain swelling and paralysis in children. The findings also point to possible treatments for related viruses including those that cause "common cold" symptoms.

Foods celebrating the Lunar New Year will be featured menus today (Jan. 30) at six campus dining venues through a collaboration of Purdue Memorial Union, Purdue Dining and several student organizations.
Works by students, faculty and guest artists will be featured in various exhibitions during the spring semester in Rueff Galleries.

The Ackerman Hills Course at Birck Boilermaker Golf Complex will undergo a major renovation that will upgrade it to a championship-level facility and earn it inclusion on the Pete Dye Trail. An FAQ highlights the project.
