Latino Cultural Center
celebrating 10 years

All are welcome Saturday (April 13) as the Latino Cultural Center celebrates its 10th anniversary. Even the center's slogan, "Todos Son Bienvenidos," says so. Since officially opening in April 2003, the center has served as an educational foundation, resource center, and a "home away from home" for faculty, staff and students.

Procurement Services to begin using Ariba for purchasing

An overhaul of the University's procurement process will include replacement of the SRM purchasing system with a set of tools from Ariba Inc.

Engagement activities can be added to P-12 Portal

Purdue faculty and staff are encouraged to add their upcoming engagement activities to the campus-wide P-12 Portal, which features activities such as camps, programs, and events for P-12 students. The portal is available at www.purdue.edu/p12portal.

Callout underway for Purdue Staff Golf League

Golfers looking for an opportunity to play and meet other staff and faculty at Purdue are invited to participate in the Purdue Staff Golf League, now in its 76th season.

Purdue Stuttering Project receives $3 million research grant

Two professors leading the Purdue Stuttering Project have received a $3 million grant from the National Institutes of Health to understand why some children grow out of stuttering. They will use their findings to develop a speech therapy screening tool to better identify which preschool children are not likely to recover and should receive therapy immediately.

Study: Immigrants who live, work together less apt to learn English

Adult immigrants living and working in places where they are surrounded by others who share their ethnic backgrounds are less likely to learn or be proficient in the English language, say two Purdue researchers.

Airline Quality Rating: Virgin America tops industry's second best year ever

Airline performance in 2012 was the second highest in 23 years that researchers have tracked their performance, according to the 23rd annual national Airline Quality Rating.

Purdue's Manufacturing Extension Partnership has a new website designed to be a Six Sigma information resource.

Transportation fleet sale being held April 11-13

Transportation Service will conduct a fleet sale Thursday-Saturday (April 11-13). More than 45 cars, trucks and vans will be available for purchase through a sealed bid system.

Business Management announces 2013 Kaplan Award recipients

Three Business Management employees have been named recipients of the 2013 Eleanor O. Kaplan Award for Exceptional Customer Service.

Purdue Student Government announces election results

Kyle Pendergast, a junior in the College of Engineering, and Meg Highley, a junior in the College of Health and Human Sciences, will serve as president and vice president, respectively, for the 2013-14 academic year, Purdue Student Government announced Sunday (April 7). Maci, Turner garner Big Ten Medal of Honor

Volleyball's outside hitter Ariel Turner and football's defensive end/linebacker Robert Maci were tabbed as Purdue's 2012-13 Big Ten Medal of Honor nominees Sunday at the inaugural Golden Pete Awards. Turner also garnered the prestigious Varsity Walk Award.
