Krannert to hold global manufacturing conference

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — Purdue University's Krannert School of Management will host a global manufacturing conference April 19 focusing on "Right Shoring When Manufacturing Matters."
The annual conference is organized by the Dauch Center for the Management of Manufacturing Enterprises (DCMME) and the Global Supply Chain Management Initiative (GSCMI). J. George Shanthikumar, director of DCMME and GSCMI, leads it.
The conference will bring together more than 150 industry leaders, faculty and students to discuss existing challenges in global manufacturing and new opportunities for businesses to improve their operations.
Speakers for the conference are John S. Sofia, vice president of global program management, American Axle Manufacturing; Joe Markun, director of global quality, advanced manufacturing engineering, global facilities planning and real estate, Caterpillar; Randal A. Sergesketter, senior vice president for engineering, manufacturing and supply management in the worldwide construction and forestry division of John Deere; Becky Smith, director of global procurement, beauty, personal care, home care and durables, Amway; Marc F. Stoken, general manager of raw materials for North America, United States Steel Corp.; Craig Andrews, director of continuous improvement, ConAgra Foods; and Sriram (Srisu) Subrahmanyam, vice president of global engineering, Ingram Micro.
The conference will run from 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Krannert Auditorium.
In conjunction with the conference, undergraduate and graduate student case competitions will be held April 18. Participating will be 10 undergraduate teams and 11 graduate teams of students from Krannert, Material Science, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Agribusiness and Physics. A panel from industry will judge the competition, and winners will be announced at the conference.
