Córdova forms partnerships in India, Hong Kong

Tree planting ceremony
President France A. Córdova extended the University's partnership with Cummins Inc. and a women's engineering college during a 10-day trip to India and Hong Kong. Infosys Technologies Ltd., a leading Indian software development and engineering firm, also honored her with a tree planting in Bangalore. Córdova's trip, a year in the planning, featured visits to educational institutions and businesses, as well as meetings with alumni, parents and major donors. More

Francisco named president-elect of American Chemical Society

Joseph Francisco

Joseph S. Francisco, the William H. Moore Distinguished Professor of Chemistry at Purdue, has been named president-elect of the American Chemical Society, the world's largest scientific society. Francisco will be president-elect in 2009 and take over as the society's president in 2010. He will be the second African-American, but the first from academia, named as president of the society, which was founded in 1876. More

Food drive to be held during Purdue-Indiana football game and Purdue-Duke men's basketball game

The Boilermaker Athletic Council, formerly the Captain's Table, is holding a food drive for the Purdue-Indiana football game Nov. 22 in Ross-Ade Stadium. Canned goods, such as boxed foods, cereals, pasta, peanut butter, soap, shampoo, toothpaste (all in non-glass containers), will be collected. There also is a food drive scheduled for Dec. 2 for the Purdue-Duke basketball game in Mackey Arena. More

2009 Boilermaker Ball to feature dinner, dancing and auctions

Purdue alumni and friends are invited to Indianapolis for the Purdue Alumni Association's second annual Boilermaker Ball. The event begins at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 27, at the Indiana Room Ballroom, 140 W. Washington St., Indianapolis, with a cocktail hour, dinner and live auction. Live entertainment and dancing will follow. More
