Wellness screening dates scheduled

Wellness screenings are available on the West Lafayette campus through the School of Nursing.

Screenings are scheduled for the following days and locations:

-- Nov. 19, 24, 25. Johnson Hall of Nursing.

-- Dec. 1, 3, 5, 10. Johnson Hall of Nursing.

-- Dec. 8, 9. Freehafer Hall.

To register for a screening time, go to www.purdue.edu/worklife. Registration should be completed at least 24 hours in advance of the apointment. Anyone without Internet access may call 49-45461.

As part of their Purdue benefits, benefit-eligible faculty and staff and their spouses/same-sex domestic partners may receive one free wellness screening per calendar year. Those who had a screening during spring 2008 will need to wait until spring 2009.

Graduate staff screenings are free; graduate staff spouses/same-sex domestic partners pay $20.

Screenings include blood pressure, height, weight, and the finger stick procedure for total cholesterol, HDL cholesterol (good), and glucose (blood sugar).

Fasting is not required but is preferred. These tests and procedures are recommended for most adults. If an individual has an existing medical condition, or is already on medication for any medical condition including high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes, or others, it would be more appropriate to see a health care provider for a screening.

Participants must bring their PUID at the time of the screening. Spouses/same-sex domestic partners will need the employee/retiree/graduate staff PUID.
