Recycling Programs

Purdue has recycled approximately 1,600 tons this year!
See all the campus recycling locations.

University Residences is investing more than $3,000 in man hours every week into its recycling program. Employees flatten cardboard, pull off plastic, carry recyclables out, and sort everything into the recycling bins.

Housing and Food Services provides “on the go” refillable bottles to customers, and uses 100% recycled fiber napkins.
 
Boiler Green, a student organization, received a $10,000 grant from the EnviroWatts environmental fund administered by an area utility, Tipmont REMC, to purchase 21 recycle bins that are located around campus. 

Purdue Memorial Union recycles a variety of materials, uses "green" cleaning chemicals, and recently installed sustainable flooring (flooring that does not require harsh chemicals for maintenance) in the Commons area. Read more.

Athletic events: A volunteer effort led by the Boiler Green Initiative collects glass bottles and aluminum cans from tailgaters at football games, and plastic recyclables from fans in the stadium.

The Veterinary Hospital created a compost with animal bedding and manure.

Building and Grounds Department created a “refuse and recycle” program.
