Business Law

Describes the judicial system and the nature and sources of law affecting business.  Studies contracts, sales contracts with emphasis on Uniform Commercial Code Applications, remedies for breach of contract and tort liabilities.  Examines legal aspects of property ownership, structures of business ownership, and agency relationships.


Course Objectives:

  • Classify state and federal judicial structures and jurisdictions
  •  Identify the sources of laws as applied to business, both local and global
  • Understand the legal parameters of the various business structures.


Recommended Background

  • PREREQUISITES:  Demonstrated competency through appropriate assessment or earning a grade of “C” or better in ENGL 083 Reading Strategies for College and ENGL 093 Introduction to College Writing, or ENGL 095 Integrated Reading and Writing or ENGL 075 Co-Requisite Integrated Reading and Writing.
