Ivy Tech Prepares the student for certification in shielded metal arc, GTAW (Gas Tungsten Arc Welding), GMAW (Gas Metal Arc Welding) and other welding processes through study of the welding procedures and standards established by agencies such as the American Welding Society and the American Society of Mechanical Engineers.

- Read and interpret a WPS (Welding Procedure Specification) document
- Interpret a PQR (Performance Qualification Record) document
- Interpret a WPQ (Welder Performance Qualification) record document.
