Collection Information

GENERAL - Label all containers with appropriate information - Animal ID, Owner Name, Veterinarian, Sample Type, and Date.
REFRIGERATION - Refrigerate all samples until shipment.
MILK - Submit milk in a leak-proof container (i.e., plastic conical tube) with appropriate labeling.

Milk samples should only be refrigerated and must be sent to the lab within 3 days of collection.
DO NOT FREEZE MILK
If diagnosing a herd condition, samples from multiple animals from the same herd can be pooled into a single test. Please note on the submission form which samples you would like pooled.

Shipping Information

OVERNIGHT - Ship overnight in an insulated shipper with ice packs (pack absorptive material to collect moisture) DO NOT SHIP OVER THE WEEKEND OR HOLIDAY - NO SATURDAY DELIVERY
LEAKS - Ensure all samples are in leak proof packages and clearly labeled with Tissue Type/Animal ID/Owner Name. Include absorptive material to collect any leaks - double bag any fresh tissues.
PAPERWORK - Package paperwork separately in a waterproof, sealable plastic bag. Ensure paperwork is complete and specimens are labeled for easily matching. If you are using CF.755 Multiple Animal Continuation Form, please include a hard copy and email a copy to addl@purdue.edu.

Turn Around
Testing starts on Wednesday. Samples received by Tuesday or Wednesday morning (by noon) will be set up for testing with results reporting on the following Monday. Samples received after Wednesday morning will not be set up until the following week.
