Collection Information

GENERAL - Label all containers with appropriate information - Animal ID, Owner Name, Veterinarian, Sample Type, Date.
REFRIGERATION - Refrigerate all samples until shipment.

Shipping Information

OVERNIGHT - Ship overnight in an insulated shipper with ice packs (pack absorptive material to collect moisture) DO NOT SHIP OVER THE WEEKEND OR HOLIDAY - NO SATURDAY DELIVERY
LEAKS - Ensure all samples are in leak proof packages and clearly labeled with Tissue Type/Animal ID/Owner Name. Include absorptive material to collect any leaks - double bag any fresh tissues.
PAPERWORK - Package paperwork separately in a waterproof, sealable plastic bag. Ensure paperwork is complete and specimens are labeled for easily matching. If you are using CF.755 Multiple Animal Continuation Form, please include a hard copy and email a copy to addl@purdue.edu.
WHOLE ANIMAL - Double bag body if shipping through a courrier service.

Additional Information
This test includes only a gross exam and gross necropsy report. Separate charges apply for the following tests: serology, histopathology, PCR, bacteriology (including antimicrobial sensitivity), parasitology, toxicology, and tests available only at other laboratories.

*Fee does not include accessioning fee ($10 additional charge).

Species include domestic waterfowl, upland game birds (quail, chukars, pheasants, grouse, etc.), and peafowl. Psittacines (parrots or passerines (songbirds) are not included.)

For a thorough working, consider the Livestock and Poultry – Comprehensive Necropsy fee.

Additional or mail-out tests will result in additional charges.

This necropsy does not cover legal or insurance cases.

There is NO additional fee added for disposal of the remains with the Poultry Gross Exam.

Owner-submitted necropsy cases are required to prepay at the time of submission. The sum of the prepayment will be the accessioning fee, necropsy fee, and the elected remains disposition. Payment may be made in cash or check. Fees associated with any returned checks will be added to the case. Additional charges related to the case will be billed to the client upon completion.
