J. Paul Robinson, Distinguished Professor of Cytometry in the veterinary college’s Department of Basic Medical Sciences and a professor in the Weldon School of Biomedical Engineering, and Amy R. Reibman, the Elmore Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering, have been named fellows of the National Academy of Inventors, the organization announced on Thursday (Dec. 8).

When the rover Perseverance landed on Mars, it was equipped with the first working microphone on the planet’s surface. Scientists have used it to make the first-ever audio recording of an extraterrestrial whirlwind.
