As a reminder, seasonal flu shots are provided annually at no charge to all benefits-eligible Purdue faculty, staff and their spouses and dependents covered on a Purdue health plan. Flu shots, which support the physical health pillar of the Healthy Boiler Program, are available through a variety of means, including drive-through, walk-in and on-site options around campus.

A strategic hiring effort to expand Purdue’s focus in public health and health equity while diversifying the racial makeup of its faculty has reached a major milestone, with 11 new faculty starting their Boilermaker academic careers this fall. These new faculty members, appointed as part of an inaugural cluster hire search in conjunction with Purdue’s centrally supported Equity Task Force, span six departments in the colleges of Health and Human Sciences and Pharmacy, and Libraries and School of Information Studies. Professor Bryan Pijanowski’s research team will be working in some wild and remote places in the coming year to develop a global model of animal and plant diversity and how it changes. Pijanowski’s sound-source surveyors will be equipped with microphones, headphones and parabolic reflectors to efficiently collect sound waves from the natural world.
