'This Is Purdue': Boilermaker bond: Celebrating 45+ years of marriage

In the new episode of "This Is Purdue," two couples share their love stories, which began during their time at Purdue University. Randy and Linda Shields (above), co-chairs of the President’s Council (part of the Purdue for Life Foundation), and Norm and Karen Blake, President’s Council members, are celebrating 45 and 56 years of marriage, respectively, after meeting at Purdue. Hear why both couples continue to foster relationships and volunteer within the Boilermaker community and their generational stories of traditions, friendships and family.

Studying impact craters to uncover the secrets of the solar system

While for humans the constants might be death and taxes, for planets the constants are gravity and collisions. Brandon Johnson, associate professor in the Department of Earth, Atmospheric, and Planetary Sciences, studies the latter, using information about impacts to understand the history and the composition of planets, moons, asteroids and meteorites throughout the solar system.

ICYMI: Purdue program would welcome displaced scholars from Ukraine

With Russia’s invasion of Ukraine now in its sixth week, Purdue is planning to create a program to host Ukrainian scholars who have been displaced by the conflict. Through Purdue’s Ukraine Scholars Initiative, individuals directly impacted by the war with faculty positions at Ukrainian universities and who are engaged in academic research would have the opportunity to resume their academic pursuits at Purdue.
