'Odyssey' video game creator to speak at Purdue

Purdue alumnus Scott Phillips will share his experiences in the video gaming industry during a Giant Leaps Series event (today) Sept. 24. The event, "Creating Assassin’s Creed Odyssey," is free and open to the public. The College of Liberal Arts is bringing Phillips to campus as part of the “At the Intersection of Liberal Arts & STEM” series.

APSAC chair Q&A: Danny Vukobratovich

Danny Vukobratovich took office June 1 as the 2019-20 chair of the Administrative and Professional Staff Advisory Committee. He is instruction and research services administrator for Purdue Libraries and School of Information Studies. He joined APSAC as an at-large representative. Here, he answers questions from Purdue Today about his perspectives and plans in leading APSAC.

Muharrem Mane

Clear and concise communication is critical in the fields of space and flight, and Muharrem Mane is taking a giant leap by developing a communication training platform for pilots in training to make sure language isn’t a barrier for safety. Mane, an alumnus from the School of Aeronautics and Astronautics, helped create the Plane English technology, which aims to help pilots master radio communication skills and better interact with air traffic controllers.

Could live theater performances be an effective educational tactic in enhancing student learning and retention of information? Research conducted by Purdue Convocations staff indicates that it could, in fact, boost students’ comprehension and analysis abilities. The research was centered on a radio theater-style performance of “Judgment at Nuremberg.”
