‘What IF we could feed the world without harming the
planet?’

How does the world feed its growing population in a way that does not contribute to climate change? How much should we enjoy what we eat at the cost of the planet’s health? The Ingestive Behavior Research Center at Purdue is sponsoring an "Ethics of Eating" conference addressing “What IF We Could Feed the World Without Harming the Planet?” The Sept. 30 to Oct. 2 event is part of Purdue’s Ideas Festival.

$40 million Lilly Endowment Inc. grant to impact
STEM students, jobs

Purdue on Tuesday (Sept. 10) announced a $40 million Lilly Endowment grant to Purdue Research Foundation to help create Purdue’s Engineering and Polytechnic Gateway Complex, a project designed to meet the growing demand for science, technology, engineering and math graduates ready to contribute to what is being called the fourth industrial revolution: Industry 4.0.

Decades after the last human set foot on the moon, NASA is contemplating setting up a permanent base there or sending astronauts to Mars. Accomplishing those goals, however, will require a few green thumbs. That’s where Purdue’s Cary Mitchell comes in. For more than 40 years, he has led efforts to improve human ability to grow food in space.

season to feature four
mainstage productions

The 2019-20 Purdue Theatre mainstage season will explore themes of women’s rights, American politics, spirituality, sexuality, romance, addiction and more. The season features four mainstage productions — two Pulitzer Prize-winning plays; a new stage sequel to “Pride and Prejudice”; and a play based on the true story of the Radium Girls.
