Today (April 3), Brian Lamb, C-SPAN founder and Purdue alumnus, will interview Doug Mills, the award-winning news photographer who has captured dozens of iconic images that people think of when it comes to modern historical events or sports. This Giant Leaps Series event is at 6 p.m. in Stewart Center’s Fowler Hall.

ITaP’s Envision Center will celebrate its 15th anniversary by unveiling “The Forge,” its new collaborative environment that allows multiple people to share a virtual or augmented reality experience, at an open house from 1 to 3 p.m. on April 17. The center will highlight other recent projects as well, and the event is free and open to the public.

Apple co-founder and computer pioneer Steve Wozniak will speak at Purdue on April 17. Wozniak will join Mung Chiang, the John A. Edwardson Dean of the College of Engineering, for a wide-ranging discussion on the founding of Apple and on artificial intelligence and his personal vision for the future of technology. The event is part of Purdue's Ideas Festival.

Terese Mailhot, a visiting assistant professor of English at Purdue and author of the New York Times best-seller “Heart Berries,” recently received a 2019 Whiting Award. Mailhot, who was nominated in the field of nonfiction writing, is among a group of 10 fiction and nonfiction writers, poets and playwrights selected for the prestigious award.
